Nutrition and Allergy Aware Policy
Stoughton Center for the Arts prides itself on being a safe environment where all students can
explore their arts education. Our strategies towards creating that environment are ever-evolving
as our internal and external communities change from year to year. Strategies that no longer
serve our desired outcomes may be eliminated, and new ones may be implemented.
Beginning September 1, 2025, the Stoughton Center for the Arts will implement guidelines and
designated spaces within the building to establish itself as a Nutrition & Allergy Aware facility.
We are implementing this strategy to create an environment that caters to the diverse needs of
all our students and faculty. For some of our students and faculty, exposure to peanuts
(legumes) and tree nuts is a life-threatening event. Those same foods are a primary source of
protein and other nutrients for other students and faculty. As a Nutrition & Allergy Aware
Facility, we are working towards maintaining an environment and culture that is positive and
safe for everyone.
We are implementing the following changes in the building:
• Our Dressing Room will be clearly labeled as ‘No Food Allowed’.
• Our Open Waiting Area, located across from Music Studios 9 and 10, will be clearly labeled
as “Nut Free”. Cleaning wipes will be supplied in the area for cleanup.
• The Waiting Room, located next to Studio 14 near the Front Desk, will not have limitations.
The Front Desk will monitor it for cleanliness. Cleaning wipes will be provided.
• We will post reminders outside all of our Studios. The reminders will encourage all students
and faculty to wash their hands and drink something after all nutrition breaks.
We will need everyone working together to create this positive environment. Stoughton Center
for the Arts may set the tone, but it is only accomplished through the contributions of every
student, family member, and faculty member. Thank you for joining us in creating and
maintaining a safe space for everyone.
